The Axis Conga Drumming Workshops will start again in Spring 2018!

Conga Drumming Workshops in Nottingham with Richard Kensington

- Improve your conga technique and repertoire

- Learn to play Afro Cuban rhythms in ensemble

- Explore how to adapt Afro Cuban rhythms for your own percussion set up

£90 for three sessions, £35 for a single session. Advance booking.

The Axis Percussion Trio run workshops in all aspects of Cuban Percussion. These focus on playing conga drums in traditional Cuban styles and building out from these styles to develop your own playing and sound. 

 

Aspects of Cuban percussion that are regularly covered include:

Technique:

Making the correct sounds on the drums

Stamina Building

Warm ups

Styles:

Salsa Rhythm Section

Rumba Guaguanco, Columbia and Yambu

Bembe

Conga de comparsa

Mozambique

Multi drum playing and adapting grooves for band percussionists

Participants are given scores of material covered at the end of each session and will be expected to practice the material between sessions.
